Pinnacle West (Arizona Public Utilities)
This statewide utility provider has installed several
800 MHz base stations and utilizes self-developed software
in the north Phoenix area. The system is being used to submit
service reports, access plans and schematics from the LAN,
and for dispatching in this area. Additional sites are being
added throughout the State.
EMERGING USES:
IP SERIES
Wide area mobile data communications for service fleets and
supervisors.
Specialized Mobile Radio Service (SMRS): Utilities may own
and operate the private system and generate revenue by sharing
bandwidth and access with local business, local government,
and/or public safety entities in the coverage footprint.
XPRESSNET
“Hot spots” at service centers and dispatch locations
for high-speed upload/download of reports, files, software
updates at the beginning and end of shifts (as vehicles approach
hot spot coverage areas).
Create “hot zones” for high activity areas. Provides
high-speed access to the Utility LAN for downloading schematics,
client history, reports, etc. in a localized high activity
area (i.e., downtown areas, industrial areas, etc.).
Utilize 802.11 a capabilities with directional antennas to
provide long-distance (up to 10 miles) hops to hard-wired
LAN drops. |
